Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has reportedly set his sights on leaving Old Trafford despite Jose Mourinho’s best efforts to convince him to sign a new contract.

The Belgium international is approaching the final six months of his existing deal, and he will be free to discuss terms with foreign clubs next month.

According to The Express, the 30-year-old has made his mind up to pursue a fresh challenge, and he could be prepared to wait until the summer to pursue a Bosman move elsewhere.

Meanwhile, the report suggests that the midfielder is the subject of interest from an unnamed Chinese club, where he could potentially receive a bumper wage package.

Fellaini, who joined United from Everton in the summer of 2013, had shown glimpses of his ability until the current campaign, where he excelled in the injury absence of Paul Pogba in September.

Since then, he has struggled with a nagging knee problem, and this has restricted him from commanding playing time at least in the Cup competitions.

United have not held contractual negotiations with Fellaini since September, and the Belgian appears clear on his mind to secure a new club, where he could be offered a huge signing-on fee in addition to regular first-team football, which is far from assured under Mourinho.

Fellaini at Manchester United has made 145 appearances, scoring 19 goals and providing 10 assists.
